End of an era! My partner and I have visited Abrakebabra Carlow every single Friday for 5 years specifically for their legendary, old-school Taco Fries. While other branches changed, Carlow always kept the amazing "OG" recipe.
Sadly, we went last week and it has completely changed to the newer recipe. It was incredibly greasy, oily, and just really unpleasant. So disappointed to see the famous Carlow Taco Chip ruined. You’ve unfortunately lost two loyal customers.

I would like to reassure you that we have not changed the recipe, our restaurant is run by the same family since we opened in 1991 and we have never altered the recipe as they are so popular. Best Abra I've eaten in, everything is cooked and prepared the exact same way by all staff members. The owners should be very proud of this restaurant. I have to have a chicken baget and a taco fries once a month, life is not worth living otherwise.

I ordered food for collection and the girl said yes about 15 minutes. When I got there in 15 minutes they kept serving people in front of me. I told the woman behind the counter I ordered my food for collection 15 minutes ago is my food not ready for me to collect? They said they had to serve the people who were there before me first and that is skipping the queue.. I said no that is a collection service and not skipping the queue. I told them that everywhere else offers this service and it is not seen as skipping the queue anywhere else. They said they half cook it as they don't want it to get cold if ppl take too long to collect, but it was very clear to me that they hadn't started cooking at all. This is not a collection service and not very nice to be accused of trying to skip the queue when they never told me they didn't do collection when I called up and asked for that service. It's a pity cause I ike the food but the ordering service is too long so will avoid from now on.

Hi natalie, sorry to read you were disappointed with your service today. To make sure all food is as fresh and hot as possible we take phone orders cook the burgers etc but when the customer comes to pick it up we dress the burgers and pack the chips etc. a huge amount of people don’t arrive in time and their food if it was made already would be going cold and soggy. I can only presume another customer/ customers with a phone order were there already to collect their order and that’s the order they made first. Phone orders do skip the queue - when you arrive your order should be packed before the orders in the shop as you already rang. It shouldn’t take much more than a few minutes to pack.
